Given my druthers, we'd have a society in which blurring the lines as you (and Bob and Ed, and even I, sometimes) do would not be odd. Or maybe we wouldn't even perceive the career-life line?
As someone that is a history teacher by day, freelance/indie writer by night, and public land activist by dead of night, I’m finding myself with lots of rods in the fire. I hadn’t heard the “sell it three times” sure by Abbey before, but I’ve been finding it to be a crucial strategy in keeping all the plates spinning. I’m using the same research to teach a summer class on NPS history, do some national monument analysis in my Substack, and do a little historic narrative writing for another website. Thanks for this piece— I love your writing and really glad I discovered more of it here on Substack.

What month of Trails Magazine has the feature on Bob Marshall?
