Good read. You told a story, or stories, with this. Perhaps a story can be an argument, or vice-versa.

Well said! Indeed I believe that stories can sometimes make the best argument. So the way I see this essay, I established a hero (myself), gave him a quest (comparing mystery novels to nature writing), and tried to resolve that quest (tell better stories!). :)
